When it comes to working from home, there’s one generation that wants to do it more than others - millennials. Stanford economist and work-from-home expert Nick Bloom says that compared to other generations, millennials disproportionately want to work remotely.

You may be surprised to hear that it’s millennials and not Gen Z, but Nick isn’t. He says that those in their 20s want to be in the office a few times a week for the socialization aspect, plus the extra perk of mentorship. He also says that Gen Z prefers three to four days a week in the office “because home is often a cramped apartment share.”

So, why millennials? They tend to live in houses that are larger spaces than Gen Zers, may have younger kids, and have “full lives” outside of their professional lives.
