Dolly Parton Dinner Theater Gets a Name Change

Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede dinner theater in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is getting a name change.

The producers of the show are dropping the word Dixie and calling it simply, Dolly Parton's Stampede to reflect changing attitudes about the word.

The attraction's public relations director, Pete Owens, says, “The show itself was never about the Civil War. It was really about that good-natured competition and the idea of trying to involve the audience.”

A protest over the name change is being organized for January 20th.
